About Gewoon Opvallen

Marcel and Felix Gewoon Opvallen sustainable clothes

Our Story

Hey there, welcome to Gewoon Opvallen! We’re a Dutch company that’s all about making the world a better place – and we do it by manufacturing/sourcing sustainable clothes for clothing brands and companies that need workwear.

Back in 2014, Marcel, Gertjan, and Rene had a bright idea: what if we could use our expertise to make a difference? And thus, Gewoon Opvallen was born!

We’re not your typical corporate types – we’re a bunch of fun-loving folks who are passionate about what we do. And what we do is help clothing brands and other companies with their new collections in such a way that they reduce their environmental impact and become more eco-friendly.

Whether it’s sourcing sustainable materials or finding more efficient production methods, we’re here to guide brands and companies on their journey towards a greener future. And we do it all with a smile!

So if you’re a clothing brand (or other company) looking to make a positive change, come join us at Gewoon Opvallen. We’ll help you stand out – in all the right ways!

About our focus points

At Gewoon Opvallen we believe that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a way of life. Our mission is to create sustainable clothing that not only looks great but is also good for the environment and for the people who make it. We are committed to transparency, supply chain traceability, decent work, gender and racial equality, sustainable sourcing and materials, waste and circularity, water and chemicals, and the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss.

Transparency is at the heart of our operations, and we believe that consumers have the right to know where their clothes come from. That’s why we provide all the detailed information we have about our manufacturing processes, including the European origin of our materials and the working conditions of employees in the supply chain. We believe that by being transparent, we can build trust with our customers and ensure that they are making informed choices.

Supply chain traceability is another critical aspect of our operations. We believe that it’s essential to know the journey that our materials and products take from the source to the finished product. By mapping our supply chain as closely as possible, we can identify potential issues and take action to address them. This not only helps us to ensure that our products are made ethically but also allows us to make more sustainable choices about our materials and processes.

Decent work is a fundamental human right, and we believe that everyone who works in the clothing industry should be treated with dignity and respect. That’s why we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that they meet our standards for fair labor practices.

Gender and racial equality are also essential values that we uphold. We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities, regardless of their gender or ethnicity. That’s why we strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we support initiatives that promote gender and racial equality throughout the clothing industry.

Sustainable sourcing and materials are critical to our mission. We believe that it’s essential to use materials that are sustainable and responsibly sourced. That’s why we work with suppliers who share our values and are committed to reducing their environmental impact. We also use materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and TENCEL™, which are better for the environment than conventional materials.

Waste and circularity are also important considerations for us. We believe that it’s essential to minimize waste and maximize the use of resources. That’s why we strive to create products that are durable and long-lasting, and we recycle or repurpose materials whenever possible.

Water and chemicals are two areas where the clothing industry can have a significant impact on the environment. That’s why we work to minimize the use of water and chemicals in manufacturing processes. We also use non-toxic and environmentally friendly alternatives whenever possible.

Finally, we recognize that climate change and biodiversity loss are two of the most pressing issues facing our planet. That’s why we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and minimizing our impact on biodiversity. We use renewable energy sources in our operations, and we work to minimize our emissions and waste. We guarantee that all clothes we bring on the market, will have zero carbon emission (we will do the necessary compensating for you).

In conclusion, at Gewoon Opvallen, we are committed to creating sustainable clothing that is good for the environment and the people who make it. We invite you to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future.
